Our Compensation Philosophy

At Johnsonville, your pay is based primarily on two things:

  • The Market.  First, we start by making sure our pay ranges are competitive.  We use market data to do this; comparing our pay for a given job to the salary other companies pay for similar jobs.
  • Your Performance.  Your exceptional performance is rewarded by moving up within a pay range more quickly, as well as through additional opportunities to work on special projects or receive promotions. 

Your performance is also rewarded by our amazing monthly bonus program, called Great Performance Share (GPS). This reflects our guiding principle, “We Work as a Team, We Win as a Team.”  Members know that each job within the company (including their own!) is critical to our success. The GPS program inspires all members to feel that their work is more than just a job. Through the GPS program, all part-time and full-time Members are eligible to receive a monthly bonus based on their personal performance and the performance and profitability of the company. GPS rewards our members for achieving these goals using a balanced scorecard, encouraging members to always act in the best interests of the company, and providing a platform to discuss business results on a monthly basis. Johnsonville bonuses are higher than the market, paying out approximately 200 percent of bonus targets to our Members each year since 2000.
